Obama Wins

Obama Wins

Last night Barack Obama won the nomination. As super delegates switched to him throughout the evening it was clear he had secured the nomination even before the final two primaries rolled in. Following the announcement there were speeches given by John McCain, Hillary Clinton, and Obama. McCain gave an uninspiring speech before a few hundred in NewOrleans that again proclaimed Obama is naive and unrealistic in his goals. Clinton did as many expected her to do and refused to congratulate Obama on his win, stated that she was still indeed the stronger candidate, and made no decisions about conceding. Now the decision will be for Obama’s vice president. Many are pushing hard for Hillary to be the choice. I for one think Clinton as VP is a bad idea. Who wants that baggage, ego and plotting to come along? There have been no direct talks between them about the position but it is only a matter of time before it comes up. I want our party to secure the White House in the fall but not at the price of Clinton. With so many great choices before Barack I pray he makes the right one. Lets have this time actually be about change, not appeasing the fanatics. We don’t need her agenda, we don’t need her lies, and we certainly don’t need her division in the party. Let’s do it without Hillary Clinton please.
